Operations St-Truiden (EBST)

For the year 2008 our club has a fixed parking spot at airfield St-Truiden/Brustem.  This offers you the possibility to make flights during the week.

Below the procedures in relation to flights to / from there

 Reservations:
Use our flight reservations system  If you fly with an instructor, be sure to advise him and confirm the appointment.  You cannot suppose that he will review daily the booked reservations.

 Make appointment with the airfield.
Make appointment by telephone on number 0485/95 15 15.
Only he will open / close hangar and the airfield !

 Acces to the hangar:
Our aircraft is parked in hangar 41/43.  To get there:

- follow direction LUIK at the entrance of the BRUSTEM industrial estate,

- at the next traffic lights (road direction TONGEREN) : STRAIGHT AHEAD

- you'll see the runway approach lights at your right hand side,

- take the street RIGHT just before the BAR LOVE STORY,
(if you miss this street, continue til the next traffic lights, turn RIGHT,
direction JEUK, and take the first street to the right:
you'll arrive at the same crossroad as described below)

- after some 600m, on this crossroad, STRAIGHT AHEAD (Romeinse weg),

- follow the road, at the airfield fence, turn LEFT and follow the road along the fence,

- til the next entry gate appearing at the right hand side:

This gate is closed with a lock with digits: call the 0485.95.15.15 to obtain the code.

 Airfield briefing:
- print  this document,
- study it and
- put in your personal documentation.
- read airfield handbook

 Fuel:
The aircraft being positioned to EBST will have to leave with sufficient fuel in its tanks.  In principle no fuel is available at EBST.  Refueling can be done using the BP card at LIEGE (EBLG) airfield (note that a NOTAM requires you to file a Flightplan for all flights to/from EBLG !)
DO NOT leave the aircraft at EBST with less than 1 hour fuel in the tanks !!

 Hangar:
You have to assure the aircraft is put back into the hangar.  Do not expect someone else to do that for you.

Remarks about weekday flying from St-Truiden:
- put your transponder on squawk 7000 before take off.  Radar of Beauvechain (EBBE) will pick you up easier.

- the airfield is situated in zone D-37 (GND-2500ft)  which is the training sector for the Marchetti's of EBBE.
To fly in this zone radio + radio licence are required: announce yourself on frequency 122.825 Beauvechain Approach:  possibliy a new transponder code will be assigned to you.
Or you can contact EBBE tower by telephone (010-232522) and ask clearance this way.

- much airspace which is inactive during weekends will be active naturally.  Brief yourself accordingly.  In case of doubt, check with one of our instructors.

 Landing fees.
As our club is now member of VZW Vliegveld St-Truiden, for the aircraft stationed there, no fees have to be paid.

As a new organisation has taken over the operations at St-Truiden, it may be possible that procedures change in the coming months.

Major part of the airfield remains military.  Also the airspace above is under military control.  We expect you to avoid any action which may harm the good relations which have been established between VZW Vliegveld St-Truiden and the military authorities in Beauvechain and Saffraanberg.

If in doubt, please inform yourself before.
